I am experienced with utilizing DMC on a BD unit. Because it was with a previous employer, I don't feel like I can give you a lot of details about the controller. I can reiterate what Don has already said: the controller was VERY successful in financial terms, but required significant technical feats to implement and maintain. Significant benefits were realized in recoveries, feed maximization, energy and general stability. Some years back Aspen wrote up a 'similar' application in the Process Control Handbook section of Hydrocarbon Processing, and you may find more info there. Also, I discussed the controller at one of the User's Conferences and my slides may also provide further info, but I do not remember which year('93 or '94 ?). The controllers we built are now about 8 years old and still have excellent utilization and performance. The project is definitely worth taking on - Good Luck!
